Field trips provide an opportunity to learn about and enjoy Florida's fauna and flora in natural conditions.

and have a COST per person per trip: $10 for members and $15 for non-members.

    Trip Details:
  • The Bill Fredrick Park at Turkey Lake is a 300 acre city park is located at 3401 S. Hiawassee Rd. in SW Orlando. Turkey Lake is part of the Shingle Creek Sub-basin of the Kissimmee River Basin. There is a $2.00 per person entry fee to the park.
  • We will hike about 3 miles, though developed for recreation such as swimming and disc golf, the park has some interesting undeveloped sand pine scrub.
  • Meet at 8:15am in the parking lot of the Carter Center inside Bill Frederick Park. (The park does not open until 8 am).
  • Please bring your lunch for after the hike, plus drink, insect repellent and birding gear. And your $2 prak fee/person
